FINANCIAL FITNESS WITH TANGERINE
When the world is coming at you from every direction, it’s important to make sure all of life’s necessities are in check. For me, living a balanced lifestyle not only means proper nutrition and exercise, but maintaining a healthy financial life. To me, living a balanced lifestyle not only means proper nutrition and exercise, but maintaining a healthy financial life. In order to accomplish this, it’s important that your bank makes things as simple as possible. That’s why I’ve partnered with Tangerine during November for Financial Literacy Month to help me achieve financial well-being.
As an entrepreneur, I am constantly on-the-go and I understand the value of a hard-earned dollar. There’s a common misconception that leading a healthy, active lifestyle comes at a premium. No matter your financial situation, there’s lots of little tricks you can use in your daily routine to ensure your health goals become a reality.
1) Swap out dining for meal prep.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle takes some commitment, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. For me, a big opportunity for savings usually comes in the form of minimizing eating out. I try to meal prep for the week on Sundays and have my coffee maker set to automatic so I can grab-and-go in the mornings. This way when I’m short on time, I’m not tempted to spend extra on food and I know what nutrients are fueling my day.
2) Don’t spend too much to get your sweat on.
If you have a gym membership, the trick is to note how many times you’re actually going per month. If you aren’t getting your money’s worth, try a more flexible option like drop-ins. You won’t be locked into a long term commitment and you’ll be maximizing your workout when you do have the time to go. You can also take advantage of the internet for amazing at-home training on a budget. Whatever kind of workout you like best, there’s free apps with workouts and plans that you can do anytime and anyplace. It’s like having a personal trainer in your pocket. Over time, all of these little things can add up to big time savings.
3) Check-in on the go.
Thanks to the ease of modern banking, budgeting doesn’t mean I’m spending all of my spare time calculating Excel sheets either. With a hectic schedule that’s constantly changing, I access banking on my own time via easily accessible options like Tangerine’s mobile app. It’s a way that I can frequently keep tabs on my funds, so I can plan my day accordingly. Overall, having a bank that provides helpful tools and resources makes staying on top of your finances so much easier. For example, Tangerine’s newly redesigned website is not only super simple to navigate, but it has tools that I find helpful for visual people like myself. My personal favourite is the colourful graphics that show exactly what areas I’m overspending on — like eating out. I also head to their blog Forward Thinking whenever I’m looking for more in-depth banking advice. Tangerine knows that every little bit counts, and the “Savings” section has tons of tips and straightforward articles that make financial decisions easily digestible.
Since November is Financial Literacy Month, there’s no better time than the present to ensure I’m making the smartest financial decisions I can make. While I try and stay extra conscious of meal prepping this month, I’d love to know what your goals are or changes you’re making for Financial Literacy Month to help stay financially fit.
