Ways to Change Up Your Routine!
If It Seems Too Easy, It Probably Is…
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. So this week, take the Form Police’s advice and challenge yourself during BCBD and your regular workouts to push a little harder, perfect your positions, place your body in more demanding forms and be completely conscious of how your body is responding. Here’s some easy ways to change things up…
Go Heavier
Certainly the most straightforward approach but by adding a little more weight – even an extra 5lbs to your routine – you will see the difference. Just look at the 4lb ball weights we’ve added this session at BCBD and how much more invigorating the routines have been. I’ve noticed a change, have you?
Increase the Range of Motion
In class your instructor has shown you many ways to make the routines more challenging – lowering your legs during the ab routines, being aware of your arm position during the back choreography, always pressing your bellybutton to the floor, sticking your chest out, getting low during lunges and always, ALWAYS engaging your core. This week, don’t take the easy route and embrace these challenging new methods. And be sure to ask your instructor for tips!
Do One More!
We highly encourage you to participate in your own workout regime in between BCBD classes. This week try to add one more rep to your routine, do 10 more push-ups, hold that plank for one more minute, increase your weights by five more pounds, do your cardio for 10 more minutes OR try to fit just one more workout in your schedule this week.
Mirror, Mirror…
This week utilize the mirrors in class to make sure your form is top notch. Watch your reflection. Are you mimicking your instructor’s pose? Are your feet where they should be? Are you perfecting your positioning?
Unlock Your Potential
The other week we talked about limiting your belief system and part of the reason we often hold ourselves back is fear. Avoiding risk is one of the most powerful reasons why we do not reach our potential. Be persistent, embrace uncertainty, challenge yourself, clarify what you want and why you want it and never consider failure.
